Social Concerns

Jesus Christ fully reveals to us the Father’s unrestricted love and eternal plan of salvation. By his self-donation on the cross the Lord makes it possible for us to share in the divine life and be recipients of the gift of the Holy Spirit. Our faith in this truth opens us up to a vision and understanding of ourselves, our world and others in a way that transcends the limits of our senses. More and more we begin to see as God sees and we realize the spiritual value of mercy, compassion, love and acceptance. An awareness of the dignity of the human person, the value of life, a purpose and goal rooted in the kingdom established by Christ, calls us forth to express our relationship with Christ through a dynamic of generosity, care, justice and charity. The Social Concerns Commission seeks to awaken our community to a faith that is actively lived according to the teaching and formation that Jesus provided to his first disciples. This Commission provides some practical ways in which parishioners can put their faith into action, making choices that affirm the dignity of the poor, the lonely, the destitute, the disabled, immigrants, the unborn, the weak and infirmed.
