Meet the Choir:
Gina Moriarty

For as long as I can remember, I have sung with a parish choir. When I moved to Highland Park in 2010, I didn't realize that finding a parish choir to be a part of would be a priority for me, but I within the first few months, I noticed that I didn't have the connection to song that I used to. The sound of the melodies and harmonies that run in my head from the songs we sing is what marks the liturgical season for me. With Easter 2011 quickly coming I wanted them to carry me into the upcoming Easter season. Just in time, I found St Peter's. I joined the choir and it was even better than I expected. What I found was a group of very musically talented friends. Their friendship and enthusiasm for song has been inspiring, and I love how we can have the best time perfecting a challenging piece together.

I have been a member of the St. Peter’s parish community for about ten years. For a number of years I was active in the pastoral council and RCIA but I am currently active in the disability and health ministry and the parish choir. The choir is terrific. I love having the opportunity to sing and actively participate in the liturgy of the Mass. We sing songs from a variety of traditions and the lyrics are always prayerful. The choir director, Anthony Nardino, is an excellent teacher and has found a way to creatively blend the voices of the choir. This is no easy task given the choir members’ musical diversity.
