Since the very beginning of Christianity, believers have gathered on Sunday to worship the one true God and to follow the Lord’s command to “Do this in memory of me.” Over the centuries, this Sunday gathering of Christians has seen many forms and has undergone many developments. In the recent past, the Roman Missal (the liturgical book used at Mass) was reformed at the Second Vatican Council, giving us the Mass we celebrate today.

This Advent, we received the English translation of a new edition of the Roman Missal. In anticipation of this, we chose to undertake a year of liturgical catechesis; that is, a year to focus on learning about the Mass.

This endeavour took many forms, but primarily consisted of teaching moments within the context of the Sunday Mass. We ask that you open your heart and mind to what you may learn here, and that you allow it to affect the way that you participate in the Eucharistic Liturgy.

We hope that by preparing well, we may pray the Mass with a solid understanding and a true liturgical spirit, united with all Catholics in praising God with one voice.
